In this episode, through the telling of two very embodied experiences that fostered a sense of surrender, I discuss the trust involved in letting go and stepping off into the unknown. Horse back riding and flying trapeze each involved brief moments of uncertainty, and perhaps fear that actually worked to open me up to aliveness. This letting go can feel so very scary especially for those who have learnt out of necessity and through a history of trauma, to always be in control. But what can happen when we stop letting that fear of the unknown block us from feeling alive?

“It’s this fear of … what happens when I step off this ledge, and there’s so much that can come up in Jungian analysis even of being on the edge of the unknown, but knowing you have to step … off this precipice, and hope and pray that you’ll be caught.”

“When we live with a history of trauma that tells us we have to be in control all the time it really cuts us off from a sense of aliveness, in these profound moments of … flying for a moment. I can land again, I can step into the unknown.”

About me:

As a Jungian Psychoanalyst, I immerse myself in the intricate interplay of the body and psyche, aiming to awaken a profound responsiveness to life's mysteries and rekindle the enchantment of existence. My journey, etched with the contours of movement and somatic scholarship, has led me to forge an alchemical path to increasing wholeness, wherein embodiment and movement act as alchemic agents for personal metamorphosis. I've beheld the profound awakening that unfolds when we engage in conscious dialogue with the emotional tapestry encoded within the body's subtle gestures and dream symbols.
