What is stopping us from caring for ourselves?

Disclaimer: Nothing shared here is intended for mental health or psychotherapeutic advice. This is not a replacement for qualified mental health care. If you are currently dealing with any acute psychological or emotional distress, please contact the crisis line in your area. Please discuss any treatment option with a qualified health care provider. We are unable to offer referrals.

In this episode,I look at why it can feel so hard to care for ourselves on a basic level, especially in regards to moving our bodies more. Sometimes, an understanding of needing to exercise, sleep and eat well is not enough to motivate change, so what is acting as that blockage? And what is stopping us from moving? Treating a whole person in analysis or therapy necessitates treating their lifestyle as well, as their whole person.

“We really need to address how we’re caring for ourselves. Well, why is it hard? There’s a reason why less than half of the US … and Canadian population get enough movement in their life to even sustain health.”

About me:

As a Jungian Psychoanalyst, I immerse myself in the intricate interplay of the body and psyche, aiming to awaken a profound responsiveness to life's mysteries and rekindle the enchantment of existence. My journey, etched with the contours of movement and somatic scholarship, has led me to forge an alchemical path to increasing wholeness, wherein embodiment and movement act as alchemic agents for personal metamorphosis. I've beheld the profound awakening that unfolds when we engage in conscious dialogue with the emotional tapestry encoded within the body's subtle gestures and dream symbols.
